AREAS OF STUDY - BRASS
DePauw University’s Brass Area is a distinguished program within the School of Music. An inherent mission of the DePauw Brass Faculty is to help all students obtain necessary tools for a complete education in music and to encourage disciplined study of music and research materials. The Brass Faculty is especially recognized for aid in student development, encouragement of high standards of performance, and promoting an atmosphere conducive to productive learning. DePauw Brass students are leaders within the university and among the most
vibrant and active within the School of Music ensemble programs.
Music majors may enroll in one of the following degree programs:
Brass professors teach and direct all applied lessons, brass classes, and brass ensembles. Brass faculty maintain active membership within the International Horn Society, International Trombone Association, International Trumpet Guild, International Tuba-Euphonium Association, International Association of Jazz Educators, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra, and the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra. Additionally they are recitalists, studio artists, clinicians, and judges for state, regional, and national competitions.
