DePauw Chamber Singers
2013 Midwest Tour
The DePauw Chamber Singers, directed by Gregory Ristow, will make a four-concert tour of the Midwest, March 14 to 17, with appearances at the following locations in Flint and Detroit, Michigan; Evanston, Illinois; and Indianapolis:
- Mar 14 7:30 p.m. St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 711 S. Saganaw Street, Flint, MI
- Mar 15 8 p.m. Grosse Pointe Memorial Church, 16 Lake Shore Dr., Grosse Pointe, MI
- Mar 16 8 p.m. Vail Chapel at Northwestern, 1870 Sheridan Road, Evanston, IL
- Mar 17 7:30 p.m. All Souls Unitarian Church, 5805 East 56th Street, Indianapolis, IN
The concert program will feature music written in honor of the nation's British-American heritage. Specific selections include Morton Lauridsen's Mid-Winter Songs, Randall Thompson's Americana, a selection of madrigals written for Elizabeth I in 1601, Benjamin Britten's Choral Dances from Gloriana, and the Beatles' Penny Lane.
The DePauw Chamber Singers are the top touring choir of the DePauw University School of Music, one of the original six schools of music in the United States. The Chamber Singers have toured widely throughout the U.S., including performances at Carnegie Hall (NY), Lincoln Center (NY), Kennedy Center (DC) and the White House. Internationally, they have performed in China, Norway and England, with the Philharmonia Orchestra, and under world famous conductors, including Aaron Copland and Sir David Wilcocks. The ensemble is frequently praised for its professional sound and exciting programming.
