GCPA Event Coordinator; Assistant to the Dean
Janice Bagwell, an active soloist, conductor, and chamber musician, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in music education and a Master of Music degree in vocal performance from Ball State University, studying with Robert Rockabrand and Patricia Thomas Scheuer. After serving as Assistant Director of Graduate Studies in Music at Ball State, she began doctoral work and was Associate Instructor in Choral Conducting at Indiana University School of Music, where she studied voice with Sylvia McNair and conducting with Jan Harrington.
Janice has taught preschool, elementary, high school, and college music; developed music curriculums for Montessori schools; conducted church and community choirs; and conducted world music curriculum training workshops for elementary teachers. Her solo and conducting performances include music festivals in Georgia, Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. In addition to performing solo recitals, she sings with the Bloomington Chamber Singers and the choral group Voces Novae, which places the arts into unexpected or stimulating contexts. Janice came to DePauw University in 2000 and is on the School of Music administrative staff as the Event Coordinator of the Green Center for the Performing Arts.
