Music Operations Manager; Part-time Assistant Professor of Music
Steven Linville has performed in a variety of roles, including Don Basilio (Le Nozze di Figaro), Gherardo (Gianni Schicchi), Pluto (Orpheus in the Underworld), Monostatos (The Magic Flute), Ivan (Die Fledermaus), Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec in the world premiere of Bernard Rands' opera Vincent, Mayor Upfold in Albert Herring, and the tenor role in the Midwest premiere of Charon. He has performed in musicals such as Guys and Dolls (Rusty Charlie), Hello, Dolly! (Rudy), You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown! (Charlie Brown), The Music Man (Barbershop Quartet - First Tenor), Godspell (John the Baptist/Judas), Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella (Steward), Cabaret (Quartet; Nazi), The New Yorkers (Mr. Wentworth), The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Bazzard), and Sweeney Todd (Pirelli). As a concert soloist he has performed works including Mozart’s Requiem, Handel’s Messiah, and Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, and has performed Shakespearean works such as Twelfth Night (Sir Toby Belch) and The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged).
Steven also serves as a director, musical director, and vocal coach, working on productions such as Bat Boy: The Musical, Our Town, Venus, Urinetown: The Musical, The Who’s: Tommy, Children of Eden, Into the Woods, and Parade.
Previously a member of the Indianapolis Opera Chorus and performer in the Indianapolis based opera company "The Steele Project," Steven now serves as Executive Producer for Intimate Opera of Indianapolis. He serves as Music Operations Manager and Part-Time Assistant Professor of Music at the DePauw University School of Music, as well as maintaining a private voice studio.
Steven graduated cum laude from DePauw University with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance in 2006, and received his Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music in 2012. Steven's vocal training includes work with Karri York, Stanley Irwin, Caroline B. Smith, and Brian Horne.
