Piano placement auditions

School of Music students: All new music majors for whom piano is not the primary instrument should report to Amanda Hopson, coordinator of keyboard studies, for a conference/audition about placement in piano class or individual lessons. Please be prepared to play one selection that best displays your piano performance ability. Students with no prior piano instruction must still report to Professor Hopson for placement in class piano (please bring a copy of your course schedule).

College of Liberal Arts students: Beginning students should register for MUS 901 (Beginning Class Piano I). Students who wish to continue their piano instruction as part of their college program should audition for placement in private lessons. These students should be prepared to perform one piece that best displays their abilities.

Conferences/auditions will be held in Professor Hopson’s studio, room 0104 of the Green Center for the Performing Arts. There will be a sign-up sheet on the door for conference/audition times
