Software Available on mitc

The following software programs are available on workstations in the mitc lab. Provided is information and links to the respective programs' websites.

Analog factory - A virtual instrument: it has a virtual keyboard with which one can use the Prodikeys in the MITC lab. It comes with 2000 synthesizer sounds and a Preset Manager.  These sounds can all be modified by the user. More information

Prodikeys - Prodikeys is the combination of a piano keyboard and a computer. This aspect of the mitc lab is very useful for music students who need to computerize their work. More Information

ProTools LE - A digital mixer where multiple tracks can be recorded and easily edited.  It is used with MIDI files.  This program includes features such as automation, surround sound, tempo maps, and time codes. More Information

Dyknow - An interactive tool for classroom use, useful in the MITC lab.  Dyknow is a digital note-taking interface where students and teachers can post information. There is an instant polling system that involves the students in the professors' lessons. This collaborative instrument can also be used as a way to show step by step instructions by digitally replaying the actions of the instructor on specific slides. More information

Finale - A state of art musical notation program, Finale helps musicians process their work efficiently.  Users can edit, use playback, print, engrave, and save their own notation projects.  Used with the Prodikeys, Finale is an excellent tool for students in the mitc lab. More Information

Sibelius - Another program for use with musical notation, Sibelius is also used in the mitc lab.  More Information

Neuratron Photoscore Lite - Photoscore can be used to scan and create a Sibelius score from printed music; a lite version of Photoscore is bundled with the Sibelius software (see above). More Information

Propellerhead Reason 4- A program that uses synthesizers, samplers, signal processors, mixers and sequencers that can be a consummate digital music studio.  Reason is helpful for any student or professor needing everything all in one place. More Information

Fxpansion BFD Lite - This program is an acoustic drum module that serves as a student’s own virtual drum studio.  The BFD is a high quality drum sample library.  There are many different styles and hits in the library. This library also has programmed MIDI recordings of real drummers. More Information

Google Earth - Google Earth is a virtual globe program that lets users view the Earth from a 3-D perspective.  These images are superimpositions of satellite and aerial photography.  More Information

Google Sketchup - Google Sketchup is a program for 3D designing any types of structures users have in their imaginations.  It is easy to learn and help, in conjunction with Google Earth, users use real coordinates to build their own structures. More Information

Ik multimedia amplitude - This program is based off of a guitar amp.  It gives the user 14 preamp and  14 eq models, 7 power-amp models, 16 cabinet models, 6 microphone models, 21 stomp effect models, 11 rack effect models, and 2 guitar rig chains. More Information

Macromedia Studio 8 - Studio 8 is the most recent version of Adobe's Macromedia Studio. It comprises of Dreamweaver 8, Flash 8, Flash 8 Video Converter, Fireworks 8, Contribute 3 and FlashPaper. More Information

Dreamweaver 8 - Dreamweaver is a web development application that can hide the details of pages' HTML code from users, making it possible for non-coders to create excellent, professional web pages and sites. More Information

Flash 8 - Flash is a set of multimedia software capable of adding animation and interactivity to web pages; Flash is commonly used to create animation, advertisements, various web page components, to integrate video into web pages, and more recently, to develop rich Internet applications. More Information

Fireworks 8 - Fireworks 8 is a bitmap and vector graphics editor aimed at web designers (with features such as: slices, the ability to add hotspots etc.). It is designed to integrate easily with other former Macromedia products, such as Dreamweaver and Flash. More Information

Contribute 3 - Publish to the web in three simple steps: Browse to the page that needs updating, edit it, and click Publish—it's done. The intuitive, visual environment offers point-and-click simplicity—no more complicated forms to make simple updates. More Information

FlashPaper - FlashPaper is Macromedia FlashPaper 2 is a software application that behaves as a virtual printer driver. Documents printed to FlashPaper are written to Flash. More Information

MediaMonkey - MediaMonkey is a digital media player and media library application for organizing and playing audio on Microsoft Windows operating systems. Using plugins, it can be extended to handle video and other media formats as well. More Information

Microsoft Office 2003 - Microsoft Office is a set of interrelated desktop applications, servers and services for the Windows Operating System. It includes Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook Express/Entourage, Microsoft Powerpoint, and a handful of other useful applications. More Information

Native Instruments - A suite of software for electronic musicians that includes synthesizers, guitar applications, samplings, effects, DJ applications, and others. More Information

Scratch - Scratch is an interpreted dynamic visual programming language based on and implemented in Squeak. Being dynamic, it lets code be changed even as programs are running. It has the goal of teaching programming concepts to children and letting them create games, videos, and music. It can be downloaded for free and is being used in a wide variety of in-school and after-school settings around the world. More Information

Sony Acid - Acid is a professional Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software program. It is audio loop-based music software, where users can simply drag-and-drop an Acid loop file (for example a Drum or Bass loop) onto a track in Acid, and the loop automatically adjusts itself to the tempo and key of the song, with virtually no sonic degradation. Sony Sound Forge -
Sony Sound Forge is a digital audio editing and creation suite aimed at the professional as well as the semi-professional market. It allows for the editing of digital audio in almost every manner possible. More Information

- Sonic Digital Media projects offer applications to work with media in many different contexts. It includes audio editing, video editing, and work with many forms of media (i.e., CD-R's). More Information
