Streaming Media

What is Streaming Media?

Streaming media allows for audio files to be shared over the internet without being downloaded by the user.

At DePauw University, streaming audio is used on campus to support courses.  Faculty members from the School of Music and departments of Modern Languages, History, Physics, and Art have taken advantage of our streaming audio capabilities.  mitc creates playlists of requested audio files and places them onto the Blackboard or Moodle interfaces, allowing students access to audio content for courses in which they are currently enrolled.

Policies

mitc can create steaming audio playlists to be used within Blackboard or Moodle for any class taught here at DePauw.
All streaming media placed on the server must be:

  • Owned by the Library (we cannot make exceptions to this rule according to Copyright Law and Fair Use Guidelines) - or -
  • Original audio files created by faculty member (we can provide digital audio training)

Any project involving streaming media must be submitted to the mitc office at least one (1) week before the materials will be needed.  When submitting a project, remember that the amount of time to complete work on the streaming media depends on the project’s size, so please plan accordingly.

REQUESTING

Any questions, comments, or concerns pertaining to streaming media, including requests, should be e-mailed to mitc coordinator Veronica Pejril at veronicapejril@depauw.edu.
