Carl Frank ’09 was reviewed in the Petoskey (Michigan) News for his participation in the production Guys and Dolls at the Bay View Summer Music Festival.  Frank was selected through an audition process to star in Guys and Dolls, and was also cast as the baritone lead in the Festival’s Musical Revue.  About Frank’s portrayal of Skye Masterson, the Petoskey News states, “Tall handsome Frank has such a beautiful and rich voice, who wouldn’t fall in love with him?”

Carl Frank, a rising senior in the School of Music, is a voice student of Caroline B. Smith. "I am not surprised by Carl's success at Bay View,” states Professor Smith.  “To his credit, he is one of the younger ones cast this summer as many are graduate students or older. An ideal student who works hard, Carl is so deserving of this success!”

Originally from Normal, Illinois, Frank has been featured in DePauw Opera's The Magic Flute (2006), Die Fledermaus (2007), and The Abduction of Figaro (2008); performed as one of the winners of the 2008 Concerto Competition; and has won or placed in both state and regional National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) competitions.
