A native of Israel, pianist Efi Hackmey performs frequently as a soloist and collaborator, including performances at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, New York City; Wiener Saal, Salzburg, Austria; Festsaal Fürstenhaus, Weimar, Germany; Clairmont Auditorium, Tel Aviv, Israel. He was featured on Israeli TV Channel 2, the most popular TV channel in Israel, as well as on the “Voice of Music” channel of the Israeli National Public Radio. Mr. Hackmey performed in chamber concerts organized by the Arthur Rubinstein International Music Society in Eilat, Israel (2005). His recording of songs by Yoav Essing, with soprano Noa Danon, won the first prize in the Heinrich Heine Composition Competition in Israel (2002). In December 2007 Mr. Hackmey and cellist Yotam Baruch participated in the Carnegie Hall Professional Training Workshop – Brahms duo sonatas, led by Emanuel Ax.
Efi Hackmey received his Bachelor of Music in Piano and Orchestral Conducting (magna cum laude, 2002), and his Master of Music in Piano (summa cum laude, 2004) from Tel Aviv University. During his studies in Tel Aviv he won the second prize in the Tel Aviv Academy Graduate Piano Competition (2003). In addition to solo and chamber piano performances, he conducted several concerts of the Tel Aviv Academy Symphony Orchestra. His teachers in Tel Aviv were the legendary Pnina Salzman (piano) and Noam Sheriff (conducting).
Mr. Hackmey currently pursues the Doctor of Music degree in Piano Performance at Indiana University, where he studies with renowned pianist Menahem Pressler. He served as Associate Instructor in Piano and Music Theory at Indiana University.
