Wisconsin Baseball Team Names Parker Schwartz '15 Announcer & Media Relations Director

January 20, 2015

The Green Bay Bullfrogs, a baseball team that plays in the Northwoods League, has named Parker Schwartz, a DePauw University senior, to serve as play-by-play announcer and media relations director for the 2015 season. The Northwoods League is a collegiate summer baseball league comprising teams of the top college players from North America and beyond.

"Schwartz has experience in minor league baseball as a radio producer, broadcaster, public address announcer, and media director," notes the team's announcement. "In 2014, he worked in Midland, Mich., at ESPN 100.9 FM where he served as a producer and broadcaster for the Great Lakes Loons professional baseball team. Prior to working with the Loons, Schwartz was a media coordinator for the Princeton Rays, an Appalachian League affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays." It points out that Schwartz has been sports director of DePauw's radio (WGRE-FM) and television (D3TV) operations and won an Indiana Associated Press Award for a radio documentary.

"I am thrilled to join the Green Bay Bullfrogs and look forward to coming to one of the best sports communities in America," says Schwartz, a communication and political science double-major and Media Fellow at DePauw. "I have heard nothing but excellent reviews of the Northwoods League, the Bullfrogs fans, and the team's front office."

"Parker has been an invaluable member of the WGRE play-by-play sports team throughout his time at DePauw University," says Jeff McCall '76, professor of communication at DePauw and faculty adviser to the student radio station. "Listening to a ball game on the radio with Parker is like sitting at the game with your friend -- casual, friendly and focused on sports. Parker has bright future in sportscasting."
