#10 DePauw Drops Twinbill to 24th-ranked Illinois Wesleyan

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw dropped to 18-6 on the season after losing both ends of a doubleheader against Illinois Wesleyan. The 10th-ranked Tigers dropped the first game by an 8-2 score and the 24th-ranked Titans took the second contest, 8-4

DePauw took a 1-0 lead in the second as Haley Buchanan hit a solo homer to left, but the lead didn't last long as Illinois Wesleyan scored six in the top of the third.

Stephanie Polich led off with a walk and moved to second on Courtney Martin's sacrifice bunt. Audra James singled Polich to third and Keri Leach followed with a three-run homer to center. Emma Clark then walked and Allie Riordan doubled before Sara Daley lifted a sacrifice fly to right which plated Clark. Jessica Toth's single scored Riordan and Chloe Montgomery doubled home Toth, making it 6-1.

Toth led off the sixth with a bunt single and moved to second on Montgomery's sacrifice bunt. Polich doubled to left center scoring Toth.

DePauw's second run came in the sixth when Amy Hallett hit a solo homer to left marking the  third straight game she'd homered.

The Titans scored their final run in the seventh as Allie Riordan led off with a single and moved to second on Toth's single. Amanda Fazzari reached on an error to load the bases and pinch-hitter Kaity Crane singled home Riordan.

Six different Tigers collected one hit apiece, while Riordan and Toth each had three of the Titans' 12 hits. James added two in the win.

Molly McCready improved to 7-2 with the win, while Emily Bichler dropped to 4-3.

The Titans scored first in the second game as Riordan led off the second with a double. Pinch runner Mackenzie Astling scored on Crane's single to left.

Martin led off the third with a walk, stole second and third and scored on James' ground out. Leach and Clark singled and Riordan reached on an error before Toth drove in two with a double and Alyssa Vorel brought home Riordan with a single to make it 5-0.

DePauw got on the board in the third when Cymone Allen singled and scored when MacBeth reached on an infield error. The Tigers made it 5-2 in the fourth as Jen Kosinski led off with a double and scored on Buchanan's base hit.

The Titans added three more in the sixth as Martin and James singled and Clark walked. Riordan's single scored Martin, while Toth drove in James with a sacrifice fly. Clark came home when Vorel reached on an error.

DePauw's final runs came in the sixth as Jamie Story and Kosinski singled and advanced a base on Hallett's sacrifice bunt. Holly Paris grounded out which allowed Story to score and Buchanan singled home Kosinski.

The Tigers totaled eight hits led by Kosinski and Buchanan with two each, while the Titans finished with 11 and were paced by Leach, Riordan and Crane with two apiece.

Vorel improved to 6-1, while Emily Dieckmann dropped to 9-2.

DePauw returns to action on Saturday, April 14 in a North Coast Athletic Conference doubleheader at Wooster.
