Tigers Drop 10-2 Decision to Webster in NCAA Regional; Tigers Face Illinois Wesleyan Friday

Millington, Tenn. - Webster scored seven runs in its final two at bats and broke open a close game with a 10-2 win over DePauw in the Millington, Tenn., regional of the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship.
DePauw, ranked 22nd in Division III, dropped to 33-13 and faces Illinois Wesleyan at 3:30 p.m. on Friday in an elimination game. Webster improved to 26-10 and faces Birmingham-Southern at Noon tomorrow in a winner's bracket game.
Webster took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second as Mike Rainbolt walked with one out and moved to third on Mitchell Bonds' single. Matt Moore then singled to left, scoring Rainbolt.
The Gorloks expanded the lead to 2-0 in the third as Taylor Stoulp walked with two outs and Tom Henke single him to third. Webster ran a delayed steal allowing Stoulp to score from third before the Tigers through out Henke at second.
DePauw reached the board in the fourth as Robbie Stein led off with a triple before Brendon Pashia walked. Alex Berlyn then added a sacrifice fly which scored Stein.
Webster pushed the lead to 3-1 in the sixth when Stoulp singled and Henke walked. They advanced a base on Alex Kazmierski's sacrifice bunt. Stoulp was thrown out at the plate on a fielder's choice, but Henke then scored on a wild pitch.
Zach Starr's one-out triple scored Pat Lyons and closed the gap to 3-2, but Webster added two more in the seventh on RBI singles off the bats of Stoulp and Henke.
The Gorloks added five unearned runs in the eighth to put the game away.
Six different Tigers had one hit apiece. Stoulp and Henke each had six of Webster's nine hits, while Matt Moore added two.
Isaac Behme improved to 5-2, while Andy Manson slipped to 7-3. Steven Dooley picked up his fifth save.
