Nathan Sprenkel '12 Signs Pro Soccer Contract

Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw All-America goalkeeper Nathan Sprenkel '12 has recently signed with the Antigua Barracuda FC of the United States League. The Antigua squad is one of 11 teams competing in the USL PRO.

During his senior season, the Zionsville, Ind., resident earned second team all-America honors from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in addition to being named the North Coast Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year and garnering all-NCAC first team honors.

He also was the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year in 2010 in addition to earning all-SCAC and all-Great Lakes Region first team honors.

Sprenkel recorded a 33-6-3 record in goal with a 0.72 career goals against average. He helped DePauw to a 16-3-1 record in 2011 including the team's first NCAA Division III postseason appearance in 11 years.

The Tigers won the NCAC Tournament with a 4-2 victory over eventual national champion Ohio Wesleyan and finished the season ranked 25th.

Sprenkel earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology in May, while minoring in education.
