Tigers Drop Second Overtime Decision of Young Season

Kalamazoo, Mich. - Kalamazoo's Maya Smolcic scored in the 103rd minute to break a 1-1 tie and lift the host Hornets to a 2-1 overtime in over DePauw. The Tigers dropped to 0-3 with their second double-overtime loss of the season, while the Hornets improved to 2-1.
DePauw's Angela Cotherman gave the Tigers the early lead with a score at 8:44 before Kalamazoo forced the overtime on Emily Gray's score with just under 11 minutes remaining in regulation.
Kalamazoo held a 25-15 advantage including a 19-8 margin over the second half and both overtime periods, but only had 11 shots on goal to DePauw's eight. The Hornets also held a 7-4 lead in corners.
Caroline Kerr recorded nine saves in goal for DePauw, while Meredith Miles had four in the first half for Kalamazoo and Lucy Mailing totaled three the rest of the way.
The Tigers return to action on Sunday, September 9, when they travel to Alma for a 1 p.m. match.
