September 15, 2012
Greencastle, Ind. - The DePauw women’s soccer team opened up the home slate to its 2012 campaign with a 1-0 loss at the hands of the Big Red from Denison University in a North Coast Athletic Conference match on Saturday at Boswell Field.
The lone goal scored in the match was netted by Denison’s Andrea Witte in the 80th minute.
DePauw’s netminder, Caroline Kerr, allowed only a single goal on seven shots from the Big Red. Denison was led on the backline by Andrea Karl who registered her second-straight clean sheet on the young season with a three-save performance against the Tigers.
The Tigers' frontline was led by Angela Cotherman, who paced DePauw with three shots in the contest.
DePauw did not trail Denison in any offensive category other than goals; leading the Big Red in shots, 10-7, shots on goal, 3-2, and finishing tied in corner kicks, 3-3.
The Tigers return to the pitch tomorrow for a non-conference matchup at 3 p.m. when they take on ninth-ranked Washington University (Mo.) at Blackstock Field.
