Kris Huffman Named Coach of the Year; Alex Gasaway Earns All-America Honors

Kris HuffmanHolland, Mich. - After leading the DePauw women's basketball team to an NCAA Division III record-tying 33 wins and tonight's second national championship game appearance in seven years, Kris Huffman has been named the Coach of the Year.

Also earning all-America honors for the Tigers was junior forward Alex Gasaway (Crawfordsville, Ind./Crawfordsville) as she was named to the third team. The complete team is available here.

Huffman has led DePauw to a 465-102 record in 20 seasons including this year's 33-0 mark. She's directed the Tigers to their 10th straight NCAA appearance and 14th in the last 18 seasons including a third-place finish in 2002 and the 2007 national championship.

Alex GasawayShe previously earned Coach of the Year honors in 2007 and was the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Coach of the Year in 2002.

Gasaway leads the Tigers with 13.2 points per game and 53.0 percent shooting from the floor. In 30 games, she's second on the team with 1.5 steals and third with 6.0 rebounds per contest.

She currently ranks 21st in DePauw history with 856 career points and 10th with 36 steals.
