Women’s Lax Declares Victory, Defeats Britons

Albion, Mich. - The DePauw women’s lacrosse team moved to 2-0 on the season with a 23-12 victory over the Britons of Albion on Saturday afternoon at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium in Albion, Mich.
With the Tigers staying perfect with the victory, the Britons fall to 2-3 on the season after losing at home for the first time on the campaign.
Six Tigers combined for DePauw’s 23 goals, led by Natalie Swiler’s seven tallies. Elizabeth McCracken and Jamie Powell netted five goals apiece, Abigail Snively added three, Hailey Ware had two and Maryclaire Heldring chipped in with one.
Just two games in to their inaugural season, McCracken set a high mark for points in a game with 11, adding six assists to her five goals. Additionally, Snively and Swiler notched assists in the match.
Albion was led offensively by Kadie Koolwick’s six-goal, one-assist performance, while Ashley Glenn netted four goals and Mackenzie Novak registered two.
DePauw’s Amy Clark tended the Tigers net, saving six shots. The Britons goalie, Victoria Della Pia saved five on the day.
The Britons tied the match up, 11-11, after a Koolwick goal at 20:38 of the second half. From there the Tigers would go on a 12-1 run to close out the game, four of Powell’s goals came during the run.
DePauw outshot Albion, 30-23, during the game and forced the Britons to turn the ball over 10 times.
DePauw returns to action on Sunday, March 24 against Trine in Angola, Ind. The match is slated to begin at noon.
