Tigers Blanked by Division I Sycamores

Terre Haute, Ind. - Host Indiana State scored in five different innings and held DePauw scoreless as the Division I Sycamores took a 7-0 victory over the Tigers at Bob Warn Field.

DePauw dropped to 16-21, while Indiana State evened its mark at 18-18.

The Sycamores quickly took a 1-0 lead as Connor McClain and Koby Kraemer walked and Jacob Hayes delivered a two-out single that scored McClain.

The score remained 1-0 until the fifth when Derek Hannahs singled up the middle and moved to second on Tyler Wampler's sacrifice bunt. Landon Curry's triple scored Hannahs and Curry came home when pinch-hitter Owen Conway grounded out.

Mike Fitzgerald and Jordan Pearson made it 5-0 in the sixth with RBI doubles before Kraemer and Mike Fitzgerald added run-scoring singles in the seventh and eighth innnings, respectively.

The Tigers reached base in eight of the nine innings, but left eight runners stranded.

Zach Galyean, J.B. McCallum and Cory Meixner each had two of the Tigers' eight hits, while Curry, Kraemer, Hayes and Fitzgerald each had two of the Sycamores' 11 hits.

DePauw starter Pete Sutart dropped to 1-2 after going three innings and retiring seven of the last eight batters he faced. Greg Kuhlman improved to 2-1 after hurling the first three innings for Indiana State.

The Tigers travel to Allegheny for a three-game North Coast Athletic Conference cross-over series. The series winner then advances to next week's NCAC Tournament.
