Tigers Open Volleyball Season with Five-Set Loss at Ohio Northern

Ada, Ohio - DePauw held a 2-1 lead at Ohio Northern before the Polar Bears rallied for a fourth set win and then claimed the fifth for a 3-2 win over the Tigers. Ohio Northern improved to 2-0, while DePauw dropped to 0-1.
The hosts never trailed in the opening set on the way to a 25-19 win before DePauw took 25-18 and 25-20 victories in the second and third sets, respectively.
The teams were tied, 12-12, in the fourth set before Ohio Northern outscored the Tigers 13-5 for a 25-17 win. DePauw led, 7-6, in the final set but the hosts rallied to win nine of the final 12 points and take the match with a 15-10 fifth-set win.
Lauren Falotico led DePauw with 14 kills, while Kelly Doyle chipped in 11. Faith Rolwes added 44 assists and 13 digs with Keely McGrath leading with 21 digs. Elisabeth Wilson totaled a team-high seven blocks.
Ellie Gillespie had 14 kills for the Polar Bears with Heather Saunier totaling 45 assists. MacKenzie had four aces, while Gillespie and Kristin Sessler each finished with 16 digs.
DePauw returns to the court on Saturday at Ohio Northern with a Noon match against St. Mary's (Ind.) and a 2 p.m. meeting with Thiel.Back
