Tigers Fall to Mary Washington in Battle of Nationally-ranked Teams

Newport News, Va. - In a battle of two nationally-ranked squads, sixth-ranked Mary Washington scored a pair of second-half goals to send 11th-ranked DePauw to a 3-1 defeat in a game played at Christopher Newport University. The Tigers dropped to 1-2, while the Eagles improved to 4-0.
Mary Washington took a 1-0 lead on Caitlin Baker's goal at 16:36 with Courtney Rampey assisting. Haley Kane made it 2-0 at 43:54 before DePauw got on the board with Maggie Campbell rattling the cage with just under 19 minutes remaining.
The Eagles' Jenna Steele added an insurance goal with only 31 seconds left.
The game was a fairly even matchup, statistically, with Mary Washington holding a 13-11 edge in shots and a 7-6 margin in shots on goal. The Eagles also led in corners, 9-7.
Maggie Steele totaled four saves in goal for DePauw, while Emily Badis had five for Mary Washington.
