11th-ranked Tigers Roll Past Wittenberg

Springfield, Ohio- A six goal offensive outburst helped the 11th-ranked Tigers breeze past Wittenberg in North Coast Athletic Conference action Wednesday night.
With the 6-1 victory DePauw improved to 12-1-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the NCAC, while Wittenberg dropped to 4-9-1 overall and 0-3-1 in the NCAC.
DePauw got off to a quick start scoring in just the third minute when Julian Gonzalez knocked in a pass from Andy Morrison. The Morrison to Gonzalez connection would strike again just 19 minutes later putting the Tigers up 2-0. Alieu Musa finished off the first-half scoring driving home a pass from Adrian Ables.
The second-half provided similar success for DePauw as it was Gonzalez connecting on a Morrison pass once again in the 47th minute. Musa tallied his second goal just seven minutes later scoring on another assist from Morrison, his fourth of the game. Zach Hoffman finished off the scoring onslaught in the 77th minute putting the Tigers up 6-0.
Wittenberg was able to tally a goal with 81:36 on the clock when Adam Pitchel scored on an assist from Andre Lorenz.
Morrision’s four assists and Gonzalez’s three goals were both career highs. DePauw took a season high 32 shots including 14 on goal compared to Wittenberg’s six shots and two on goal.
The Tigers are back in action Saturday, October 19, when they return home to face Oberlin. This NCAC contest is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m. There will be a brief ceremony before kickoff to honor the senior class.Back
