Tigers Sink Gators With Late PK

Meadville, Pa.- The Tigers managed to scratch out two goals and escape the cold Pennsylvania air with a victory over Allegheny Saturday afternoon.
With the win DePauw improved to 13-2-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the North Coast Athletic Conference, while the Gators dropped to 7-6-3 overall and 2-4-1 in NCAC play.
DePauw applied offensive pressure all day outshooting the Gators 22-14 including 11 shots on goal. Julian Gonzalez put the Tigers up 1-0 scoring on an assist from Andy Morrison in the 28th minute. The Tigers were poised to increase their lead, but were unable to notch any additional goals in the first half.
Allegheny came out of halftime and applied immediate pressure on the DePauw defense. The Gators’ Brian Graham connected on a throw-in from Liam McNamee to tie the score at 1-1. Graham’s header swung the momentum back on the side of Allegheny.
The Tigers applied late pressure and drew a foul in the box resulting in a penalty kick opportunity. It was Morrison who blasted in the game winning goal and lifted DePauw over the Gators with just 10 minutes remaining.
DePauw is back in action Wednesday, October 30, when they take on NCAC rival Wabash at Boswell Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.Back
