Darryl Neher '88 Announces Candidacy for Mayor of Bloomington, Ind.

January 17, 2015

Darryl R. Neher, a 1988 graduate of DePauw University, is a candidate for mayor of Bloomington, Indiana.  The Thursday announcement by Neher, a Democrat who serves on Bloomington's City Council, is noted in that city's Herald-Times.

The current mayor, Mark Kruzan, is stepping down and endorsed Neher.  "When Neher looks at Bloomington, he doesn't see a city," Kruzan stated. "He sees a community. ... In so many ways to me, Darryl Neher is Bloomington."

Lindsey Erdody writes, "Neher was the longtime host of WFHB's Interchange and WGCL's Afternoon Edition, and is currently on the board of directors for the Martha's House homeless shelter. He's also served as co-chairman for the Higher Education Committee for the Foundation of the Monroe County Community Schools, volunteered at the Bloomington Animal Shelter and completed the Bloomington Citizen's Police Academy."

A communication major at DePauw, Neher hold's a master's degree from Indiana University and is a senior lecturer at the IU Kelley School of Business.
