Judge Michael Peyton '65 Receives Distinguished Hoosier Award

Michael D. Peyton, who is retiring as a judge of Indiana's Henry Superior Court, is the recipient of the Distinguished Hoosier Award. The honor "is one of the highest tributes given by the State of Indiana to its citizens. It is solely granted at the discretion of the governor to Hoosiers who have uniquely brought admiration and respect to the state through their character and accomplishments," reports the New Castle Courier-Times. A 1965 graduate of DePauw University, where he majored in political science, Judge Peyton earned his law degree from Indiana University - Bloomington. "He served as a deputy attorney general and a captain in the U.S. Air Force (JAG) prior to opening his private practice in Knightstown. He was elected judge of the Henry Superior Court 1 in 1997 and served until his retirement from the bench," notes the newspaper.
