Alumni and Students Invited to Join in Philanthropy & Excellence Weekend, April 17-19

Schedule of Events

DePauw University's multicultural community and its many traditions will be celebrated April 17-19 during Philanthropy & Excellence Weekend. Presented by DePauw's Office of Alumni Engagement, the event will feature panel discussions featuring DePauw alumni, an update on the University from President Brian W. Casey, and a keynote presentation Sunday morning by Ed Garnes '99 (pictured), founder of the Atlanta-based community organization, From Afros To Shelltoes.

An English (writing) major at DePauw and founder of From Afros to Shelltoes, Ed Garnes holds an M.A. in counseling from Michigan State University. He contributedEAST COLLEGE1 HDR2 essays to the anthologies, Where Did Our Love Go and Not In My Family: AIDS in the African American Community.

Philosopher and activist Cornel West has stated that Garnes "writes well, works hard and revels in the life of the mind."

The cost of the weekend is $30, which covers dinner on Saturday and lunch on Sunday. To register online, click here.
