Walter Lenckos '99 Honored as One of Northwest Indiana's Top Young Leaders

Walter J. Lenckos, superintendent of parks and recreation for Porter County, Indiana, is being celebrated among the top leaders in his region by inclusion in Leadership Northwest Indiana's 33rd leadership class. According to the Times of Northwest Indiana, "LNI's mission is to increase the awareness and understanding of issues pertinent to the betterment of Northwest Indiana among a diverse group of community leaders."

Lenckos and 38 other individuals participated in a ten-month program offered by the South Shore Leadership Center to leaders from business, government, nonprofits and social services from Northwest Indiana’s seven-county region.

The newspaper notes that Lenckos majored in English composition at DePauw and went oin to earn a Master’s of Science degree in recreation administration from Aurora University. "He is a member of the Coastal Advisory Board for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, Porter County Purdue Extension Board, dp newspaperValparaiso Rotary Club, and chair-elect for the Indiana Park and Recreation Association Northern District."
