GEOS Speaker - Nic Brissette '00 (AAPG Visiting Geoscientist)

On Wednesday, September 14, Nic Brissette '00 returned to campus to give his 2016 American Association of Petroleum Geologists Visiting Geoscientist Series talk, "The Gunn Graben: Geology, Engineering, and the Missing Key - Geomechanics". In his talk, Nic described how he combined geological knowledge, engineering principles, and geomechanical data to better understand the complex Gunn Graben. Moreover, his work helped define approaches that improved borehole stability while drilling, leading to lower drilling costs and reduced environmental impacts on the geological formation. Nic also provided current students advice about the oil industry, networking, and beneficial courses/plans of study.
