United States Air Force Band of Mid-America to Perform

October 2, 2000, Greencastle, Ind. - The DePauw School of Music will be host to three members of the United States Air Force Band of Mid-America who will play a mini-concert of jazz followed by a master class on Monday, October 16, from 8:30 to 10 p.m.
Seating will be on the Kresge Auditorium stage with the performers, so the audience will have the opportunity to interact with the performers in an intimate setting. It is free and open to the public.
The United States Air Force Band of Mid-America performs styles from Glenn Miller to modern rock and fusion and travels throughout the Midwest performing with such internationally known performers as Bobby Shew, Steve Smith and Jeff Jarvis. The Band performs at jazz festivals and has been a featured performer for the International Association of Jazz Educators.
One of the performers coming to DePauw is Rafael Toro-Quinones, a 1996 graduate of the DePauw School of Music in string bass performance. After leaving DePauw he taught music theory at the Conservatory of Music in Puerto Rico. He is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda honorary music society.

Iberia, Louisiana and George Pierce of Haverhill, Massachusetts.
