July 31, 2001
July 31, 2001, Greencastle, Ind. - An essay co-authored by DePauw University instructor of economics and management Michele Villinski has been selected as a winner in the American Agricultural Economics Association's "Essays for the 21st Century" competition. "Reaping What We Sow: Emerging Issues and Policy Implications of Agricultural Biotechnology" was one of six winning essays.
Villinski and lead author Lee Ann Jackson's work, along with the other winners, are scheduled to be published in the Review of Agricultural Economics. In a letter of congratulations to Villinski, AAEA President Bruce Gardner wrote, "the panel members noted that your essay provided substantial policy implications. It gave a good analysis of current problems and a good explanation of a complex regulatory scene. The issue is timely and of continuing importance," he wrote. "It will be of interest to a broad cross section of AAEA members and has an audience outside the association."Back
