Free Jazz Concert Monday Night

January 3, 2002, Greencastle, Ind. - Looking for a way to warm up and be entertained on a cold winter night? The DePauw University School of Music presents Condition Blue, a night of jazz in Thompson Recital Hall, Monday, January 7, at 8 p.m. Admission is free.

School of Music faculty member, Randy Salman, will be playing saxophones with invited guests, Jeff Helgeson, trumpet; Michael Stryker, piano; Toby Curtright, bass; and Jeff Magby, drums. All four guest performers are musicians and teachers from Illinois: Helgeson is a bandleader and freelance trumpeter in Champaign; Michael Stryker is on the jazz studies fauclty at Eastern Illinois University; Curtright is Director of Orchestras in the Illinois Public Schools; and Jeff Magby is a freelance drummer/percussionist out of Urbana. The concert will include music of Wayne Shorter, Kenny Dorham, Joe Henderson, and Jackie McLean.
