Women's Basketball Team Sweeps Two Weekend Games; Men Split

January 13, 2002, San Antonio, Tx. - Make it twelve wins in a row for DePauw University's women's basketball team. They defeated host Southwestern University 63-38 in Georgetown, Texas Saturday night in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action, then followed up Sunday afternoon with a 70-61 win at Trinity. Meanwhile, DePauw's men's team, which had won 16 in a row before losing to Earlham College Tuesday night, got back on the winning track Saturday at Southwestern. DePauw hit all ten of its free throws in the final minute of play to nail down a 85-77 victory. But Sunday at Trinity, despite overcoming a 14-point second half deficit, the Tigers came up on the short end of a 66-56 score. DePauw falls to 12-2 overall and 7-1 in the SCAC.
