Drew Madsen '78 is New President of Olive Garden Restaurants

May 28, 2002, Greencastle, Ind. - Drew Madsen, a 1978 graduate of DePauw University, has been promoted to president of Olive Garden restaurants. The 45 year old Madsen, who was executive vice president of marketing for Olive Garden, succeeds Brad Blum, who was promoted to the newly created post of vice chairman of Darden Restaurants, Inc., the parent company of Olive Garden.

Madsen joined the chain in 1998. Previously, he served as president of the North American Division of International Masters Publishers, and spent 12 years with General Mills where he served as vice president of new business development.

Olive Garden is the leading restaurant in the Italian dining segment with 488 restaurants, more than 60,000 employees and $1.7 billion in annual sales.
