July 23, 2002, Greencastle, Ind. - Danica L. Mathes, a second-year associate with the Clayton, Missouri law firm of Blumenfeld, Kaplan & Sandweiss and a 1998 graduate of DePauw University, has been selected as one of the St. Louis Business Journal's "30 Under 30 Class of 2002." The publication says the 26-year old Mathes, who specializes in entertainment law, "has worked with MaxJazz, a local record label; rapper Nelly; and producer Buzz Hirsch, who was nominated for an Oscar for the 1980s' Meryl Streep film Silkwood. She counsels clients on film, television and book publishing, advising them on everything from negotiating contracts to giving general legal advice."
The article in the July 19, 2002 edition of SLBJ continues, "Mathes got the idea of combining her artistic side with her love of law while working as a television reporter in her hometown of Quincy, Ill., then later as an intern with KSDK-TV's Show Me St. Louis program, and as a producer with Walt Disney World Entertainment in Orlando, producing and organizing special events and conventions. She graduated from DePauw University in 1998 with a double major in communications and music and from the Washington University School of Law in May 2001."
In keeping with DePauw's tradition of community service, Mathes is very active in her local community, as a member of the St. Louis Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts, Legal Advocates for Abused Women, and as culture club coordinator for Metropolis St. Louis. She also serves on DePauw's St. Louis Regional Alumni Council.Back
