Football Tigers Open Season with a Victory on the Road

September 7, 2002, Memphis, Tenn. - DePauw University's football team is off to a 1-0 start after defeating host Rhodes College 34-25 in Memphis, Tennessee this afternoon. DePauw Sports Information Director Bill Wagner, who is traveling with the Tigers, has posted a complete game summary here.

"DePauw junior quarterback Andy Yoder completed 18-of-34 passes for 231 yards and threw for three touchdowns, all to 2001 All-SCAC receiver Dan Ryan," writes Bill Sorrell in the Memphis Commercial Appeal. "It was a record-setting game for Ryan, [who] set DePauw's record for career touchdown receptions when he caught his 27th touchdown pass, a 38-yarder from Yoder in the first quarter. His three TD receptions tied a single-game school record."
