Sunday's DePauw Concerto Winners Concert Features Six Student Performers

April 24, 2003, Greencastle, Ind. - The DePauw Symphony Orchestra will present its annual spring concert featuring concerto competition winners this Sunday, April 27, at 3 p.m. in Kresge Auditorium, with David Matthies conducting. The program, which is free and open to the public, features six School of Music students, each performing a piece with the orchestra.

Soprano Amy Hayes will perform an aria from Romeo & Juliet by Charles Gounod; flutist Leighann Daihl will perform a fantasy by Georges Hüe; David J. Winans, baritone, will sing "Billy's Soliloquy" from Billy Budd by Britten; cellist Jennifer Wingert will perform a movement from a Haydn concerto; Stephanie Harris, soprano, will sing an aria from Linda di Chamounix by Donizetti; and Scarlett Lant, violin, will play a movement from a Tchaikovsky concerto. In addition to the pieces featuring soloists, the symphony will perform Bernstein's "Overture to Candide" and the "Roman Carnival Overture" by Hector Musical notesBerlioz.
