Prof. Paul Watt Now Chairs Board of ASIANetwork

May 8, 2003, Greencastle, Ind. - Paul B. Watt, professor and director of Asian Studies at DePauw University, assumed the position of chair of the board of directors of ASIANetwork on April 13, 2003, following his election to vice chair of the board last year. ASIANetwork is a national consortia of over 150 liberal arts colleges committed to strengthening Asian Studies in the liberal arts.

With the support of various foundations, including the Ford, Luce, Freeman and Japan Foundations, ASIANetwork sponsors programs that send faculty and students to Asia and it provides consulting services to liberal arts colleges seeking to develop their Asian Studies curricula. It also hosts a national conference each spring for liberal arts faculty and students in Asian Studies. ASIANetwork is one of two organizations in the U.S. dedicated to the support of Asian Studies at the undergraduate level ectower dusk(the other is the Asian Studies Development Program located at the University of Hawaii) and it is the only organization that focuses exclusively on the liberal arts.
