DePauw's Atmosphere Attracts Lilly Endowment Scholar

May 9, 2003

May 9, 2003, Greencastle, Ind. - "Danielle Law likes the atmosphere at DePauw -- where she'll be headed next year -- and the scholarship will pave her path," writes Josh Green in today's edition of Indiana's Greensburg Daily News in a story on Law and two other local students who are receiving full, four-year scholarships as this year's Decatur County Foundation Lilly Endowment Community Scholars. Law, a senior at of Greensburg Community High School, tells the newspaper, "It's a very big honor. All eight of us (finalists) were really qualified to be there -- the judges could've gone either way."

Sharon Hollowell of the Decatur County Community Foundation says, "It's quite an achievement. It's one of the toughest scholarships to receive in the county because of the process the students have to go through. Those who won should be extremely proud of themselves." The recipients each receive full tuition to the Indiana college or Newspapers 011university of their choice, and a yearly $800 stipend for required books and equipment.
