Several Events This Week Will Raise Funds for 2004 Relay For Life
April 11, 2004
April 11, 2004, Greencastle, Ind. - 2004 Putnam County Relay For Life is less than a month away, and there are several events in the coming week that will raise funds for the award-winning event. In 2003, Putnam County Relay For Life raised more funds for the American Cancer Society ($162,000+) than any other college-run Relay in the USA except for the University of Georgia, which has an enrollment 15 times DePauw's 2,400 students. You can give this year's Relay a head start toward a new record total by supporting the following events:
- Tuesday, April 13th: "Relay For Lunch" at SugarMoon, 18 South Jackson Street, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Celebrity waiters will be serving, and all tips collected will go toward Relay For Life.
- Thursday, April 15: "Relay Night" at Gathering Grounds, 2 North Jackson Street, from 7 to 10 p.m. Ten percent of all sales will go toward Relay For Life, and donations will be collected throughout Open Mic Night.
- Friday, April 16th: "Relay Fry-Day" at McDonald's, 940 Indianapolis Road, all day. Fifty cents from every order of large fries will be contributed to Relay For Life.
- Saturday, April 17th: First Annual Relay For Life Garage Sale, at Bowman Park on the DePauw campus from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It will also be "Relay Day" at Mama's Deli, 302 East Washington Street.
Putnam County Relay For Life will begin Saturday, May 1, at noon and continue for 24 hours at DePauw University's Blackstock Stadium. More than $160,000 was raised in 2003 with 125 teams participating. The goal is to get 145 teams this year. Visit the Relay Web site by clicking here. Read more in this previous story.Back
