The Hill: "Gold-Plated Credentials" of Lee Hamilton '52 Should Put Him in VP Pool
April 15, 2004
April 15, 2004, Greencastle, Ind. - Jim Johnson, who is leading the search for John Kerry's running mate, "should take a serious look at Senator Evan Bayh and former Representative Lee Hamilton, while perusing the field of possible Democratic vice presidential candidates," writes Albert Eisele in The Hill. The newspaper, which bills itself as being "for and about the U.S. Congress," says Hamilton, a 1952 graduate of DePauw University "is admittedly a bit long in the tooth at 73, but his 12 terms in the House and his experience as chairman of the Select Committee on Intelligence, on the select committee investigating the Iran-contra scandal and now as vice-chairman of the September 11 commission, give him gold-plated credentials on foreign policy and national security issues."
