April 26, 2004

April 26, 2004, Greencastle, Ind. - "Iola-Scandinavia High School student Kendal Gulbrandsen will leave his small school near Waupaca with more than just outstanding grades and test scores. Gulbrandsen, whose activities range from the Spanish Club to band, plans to study computer science at DePauw University in Indiana," reports the Wisconsin State Journal of Gulbrandsen, a Wisconsin All-State Scholar. The story continues, "High school has 'helped me learn not to sit back and let things happen to me,' Gulbrandsen said, '(but) to reach out to (people) to help them become something greater.'"

The newspaper's Judy Newman writes, "Excelling in academics and bursting with extracurricular activities, these are the young people who really might have a chance at saving the world." Access the article online by clicking here.
