August 5, 2004
August 5, 2004, Greencastle, Ind. - Pitcher John Tschantz, a spring graduate of New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois, led his team to the Division I (Cook County) American Legion baseball championship last weekend, and is now headed to the state tournament at the University of Illinois-Chicago. "The DePauw-bound righty is the staff workhorse with a 7-2 overall won-lost record and only surrendered three runs in 15 innings of tournament action on the mound," notes an article in the Evanston Review. Tschantz was named most valuable player for the tournament and the team's most valuable pitcher.
