DePauw Vocalists Win Top Awards in Regional NATS Competition

November 24, 1999, Greencastle, Ind. - DePauw student singers won several first places and two top vocalist awards in the Regional Competition of the National Association of Teachers of Singing in early November. Junior Alison M. Bates received the Jesse Norman Award, which is given to the most promising undergraduate vocalist in the third- and fourth-year college divisions. The Jon Vickers Award, given to the most promising undergraduate vocalist in the first- and second-year college division, went to freshman April M. Scholten.

Receiving first-place awards were Scholten and sophomore Kimberly L. Frazier, first-year college women category; sophomore Kristen E. Mehl, second-year college women category; Bates, third-year college women category; sophomore Clark D. Webb, musical theatre/first- and second-year college men category.
