September 13, 2004

September 13, 2004, Greencastle, Ind. - "The upcoming Philharmonic Orchestra of Indianapolis season will feature two longtime Central Indiana string players returning to perform masterworks for the first time in years," notes today's Indianapolis Star. One of the two visiting musicians, "Cellist Eric Edberg... a 16-year veteran of the DePauw University faculty, will play Antonin Dvorak's Cello Concerto on November 14, during the Philharmonic's debut at the Zionsville Performing Arts Center. Edberg played the Edward Elgar Cello Concerto with the orchestra 12 years ago."

The same article, by Whitney Smith, notes that on April 17, 2005 at Pike High School, "Pianist May Phang, a native of Singapore on the DePauw faculty, will debut with the Philharmonic when she performs Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. The piece also points out that DePauw University Professor of Music Orcenith Smith will conduct two of the concerts on the Philharmonic's schedule.
