October 22, 2004, Greencastle, Ind. - Suzanne Bates, associate registrar at DePauw University, received the distinguished service award from the Indiana Association for Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers (IACRAO) yesterday. Bates served as the organization's president in 2000-01 and was co-chair of the local arrangements for this year's joint state meeting with Indiana and Ohio ACRAO's, which took place in Wednesday through Friday of this week.

Assistant registrar Jennifer Sappenfield, who chaired the organization's legislative affairs committee over the past year and chaired the hospitality committee for this week's meeting, was elected to a three year term as secretary-treasurer of IACRAO.

Finally, Eleanor Ypma, registrar of the University and associate vice president for academic affairs, was recognized during the meeting for her nearly 36 years of service to DePauw, 33 as registrar.  Ypma has announced plans to retire at the end of January.  She and Jennifer Sappenfield also served as facilitators at two of the event's sessions.
