DePauw and Rose-Hulman each claim victories in DePauw Classic's second day

Greencastle, Ind. - Sarah Zondor scored 19 points in 23 minutes and Amy Argetsinger added 17 points in 19 minutes to lead 25th-ranked DePauw to a 77-44 win over Greenville in the DePauw Classic. DePauw improved to 5-1 with its fifth straight victory, while Greenville dropped to 2-4.

 

In the first game, Rose-Hulman won for the second straight day and improved to 2-5 on the season with a 72-64 win over Manchester. The Spartans dropped to 0-7.

 

Zondor was named the Classic MVP with 44 points in two games. Amy Argetsinger of DePauw, Erin Ward of Manchester, Rebekah Forsyth of Rose-Hulman and Amber Sugg of Greenville joined her on the all-tournament team.

 

The Tigers never trailed in the contest as they went to the intermission with a 38-18 advantage. They then built the advantage to as many as 35 in the second half. DePauw's Lindsay Houin equaled a career high with 10 rebounds as the Tigers held a 45-36 advantage on the boards. Michea McKay paced Greenville with 12 points followed by Sugg with 11. Amy Brinkerhoff grabbed 10 rebounds for the Lady Panthers.

 

The win was the 200th for DePauw coach Kris Huffman who has a 200-68 record in her 11 seasons with the Tigers. In her last nine seasons, the Tigers have compiled a 178-42 mark.

 

Forsyth paced Rose-Hulman with 19 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Manchester, while Anna Hall added 18 points and Jessica Farmer chipped in 13. Erin Ward led Manchester with 21 points, while Deanna Quinn had 17 points and 10 rebounds.

 

DePauw returns to action on Friday, December 12, when it hosts Wittenberg at 7:30 p.m.
