DePauw tops Rose-Hulman to finish dual meet portion of the season

Greencastle, Ind. - The Tigers won every event but one and improved to 7-4 with a 169-71 victory over visiting Rose-Hulman at the Erdmann Natatorium. The meet was the final dual meet of the season.
Evan Kennel was a double-winner for the Tigers with firsts in the 200 individual medley (2:01.09) and the 100 backstroke (54.37), while Michael Young won both the 100 butterfly (55.88) and the 100 breaststroke (1:04.26). Wilson Vilafana took firsts on both diving boards with 188.35 points on the one-meter board and 194.60 in three-meter competition.
Tod Karpinksi won the 1000 freestyle in 10:41.65 while Cary Devrou won the 50 free in 22.73 and Andrew Cornett took first in the 100 free in 49.56 seconds.
The 200 medley relay of Jonathan Enenbach, Matt Hinman, Young and Devrou won in 1:43.10 as did the 200 free relay of Kennel, Devrou, Karpinski and Cornett in 1:29.93.
DePauw now prepares to defend its 2003 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference championship when it competes in the conference championships in Cleveland, Miss., February 12-14.Back
