Prof. John Schlotterbeck Preparing Exhibit on History of African-Americans in Putnam County

November 23, 2004

November 23, 2004, Greencastle, Ind. - "We want to tell the whole story," says John Schlotterbeck, professor of history at DePauw University, of an exhibit of local African-American history that will be displayed at the Putnam County Museum beginning February 1. Dr. Schlotterbeck, who is chairing the exhibit committee, tells Greencastle's Banner-Graphic that the collection will tell the story of "the history of how African-Americans came to Putnam County to live and work and the contributions they made to the community through churches, schools and social organizations. We would also like to highlight individuals who contributed to the community and their struggles to ensure that everyone be treated equally."
