Hertel named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week for second time this year

1106042.jpgGREENCASTLE, Ind. - DePauw junior defensive end Dustin Hertel has been selected as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Tigers' 30-3 win over Rose-Hulman.


Hertel finished with a career-high nine tackles including 2.5 for losses of 16 yards, a forced fumble and 1.5 sacks for 14 yards in the victory. Hertel, who has totaled 41 tackles this season, has 17.0 tackles for loss - tops in the SCAC and ranked 18th in the nation. He also has 7.0 sacks, which is tied for third in the conference.


The honor is Hertel's second of the season as he also was named the player of the week after the Tigers' win over Sewanee.


The 7-2 Tigers, winners of five straight, travel to Wabash for the annual Monon Bell game on Saturday, November 13.
