Senior Jamarcus Shephard Helps USA Defeat Mexico in 2004 Aztec Bowl

December 12, 2004, Greencastle, Ind. - A DePauw senior played a role as the United States defeated Mexico 23-3 Saturday night in the 2004 Aztec Bowl in Cancun, Mexico. The USA took a 2-0 lead when a bad snap led to a safety early in the second quarter. A recap of the game posted at the Web site of the American Football Coaches Association states, "DePauw's Jamarcus Shephard returned the ensuing free kick 56 yards to set Team USA up at Mexico's 23 yard line." Shephard finished with three kick returns for 95 yards, one punt return for 0 yards and one pass reception for six yards.

The story points out, "The win was the seventh in eight tries for the United States in what has become an annual battle between the top college football players in Mexico and the top Division III players in the United States."
