11th-ranked DePauw rebounds with 81-58 victory at Southwestern

January 16, 2005, Georgetown, Texas - Amy Argetsinger scored a season-high 23 points in just 16 minutes to lead 11th-ranked DePauw to an 81-58 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference win at Southwestern. The Tigers improved to 13-3 overall and 4-1 in the SCAC, while the Pirates dropped to 4-11 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
With the game tied at 4-4, the Tigers scored 16 straight and Southwestern was not able to close the gap to single digits the rest of the way. DePauw led by as many as 22 in the first half at 37-15 before the Pirates closed to within 45-30 at the intermission.
Argetsinger scored six of her points in a 7-0 run over the opening two minutes of the second half to push the margin back to 22. The Tigers' lead reached as many as 26 points in the late stages of the contest.
DePauw shot a season-best 56 percent from the floor including 65 percent in the second half. Southwestern connected on just 32 percent for the game and only 25 percent in the first half.
The Tigers outrebounded the Pirates 39-28 with Bridget Bailey and Suzy Doughty each hauling down five. Doughty added a career-high eight assists and Caitlin McGonigal finished with four steals in the win.
Kari Crandall led Southwestern with 14 points, while Kelli Hall added 13. Beth Thomas grabbed a game-high six rebounds in the loss.
The Tigers host Rhodes on Friday at 6 p.m., while Southwestern entertains Sewanee on Friday.
